Amanda Jo walkes into her classroom. No one is there so she sits at her desk and waits until some of her students is there. After about 10 minutes she gets really bored and decides to write the lesson and homework on the board and than leave the room for a little while.
Intro: What is a beast?
The definition of a "beast" has caused controversy for centeries! Let's take a moment to cosider three types of magical creatures:
Werewolves spend most of their time as humans (wether wizard or muggle). Once a month, however, the transform into savage, gour-lrgged beasts of murderous intent and no human conscience.
The cnetaurs' habits are not humanlike; they live in the wild, refuse clothing, prefer to live apart from wizards and muggle alike, and yet have intelligence equal to theirs.
Trolls bear a humanoid apperance, walk upright, may be taught a few simple words, and yet are less intelligent than the dullest unicorn, and possess no magical powers in their oen right except for thier prodigious and unnatural strength.
We now ask ourselves: Which of these creatures is a 'being'- that is to say, a creature worthy of ligal reights and a voice in the governance of the magical world- and which a 'beast'? We will continue with the intro next time
Homework:
1. Tell me which of the magical creatures we discussed in class, that you would consider a 'being', and why? 2 sentences (atleast) (2pts)spelling counts!
2. Tell me which of the magical creatures we discussed in class you would consider a 'magical creature' and why? 2sentences (atleast) (2pts)spelling counts!
